My design challenge was to curate excerpts from the novel Einstein’s Dreams by Alan Lightman and to create a small book with supplementary illustrations. The book combines classical book proportions and typesetting with experimental type illustrations to create a new cohesive short story. I selected stories that center on themes of human emotion and pain and created illustrations with handmade inkblots and hand lettering to complement the psychological theme. The result is intriguing and unsettling, much like the stories the book contains.
