My challenge was to create a type specimen that presented the various features of a typeface in a visually appealing way. My book, featuring the typeface Roboto Condensed, is inspired by vintage sci-fi novels and imagery. The android-related subject matter is a play on the fact that a Google designer created Roboto Condensed for Android wearable devices. I utilized a variety of illustration assets, including found vintage ephemera, scanned computer circuit boards, and linoleum prints. The result is a conceptually appealing look at a well-known typeface.
The corresponding web carousel features various layouts to highlight the versatility of the typeface. To further flesh out my android theme, I chose to showcase the typeface by typesetting various quotes from the classic sci-fi novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick.
